The disturbing shade of Villanueva Saravia
hat Q most wonderful country is Uruguay. That's the idea with which we are bombarded day and night for some reactionary and omnipresent advertising. This land does not change anything, repeated a thousand times a day propaganda.
Read the book Plot to Uruguay. Who killed Villanueva Saravia? , Mario Burgos and published by Metro, by contrast, leaves the opposite sense.
The Cerro Largo mayor found dead in his home on August 12, 1998. Had 33, big ambitions and a growing political popularity. Before any serious investigation would be carried out, the then Interior Minister Luis Hierro announced that it was a suicide. The subsequent judicial inquiry in his favor.
Now Burgos disturbing book claims that such research was marked by inexplicable omissions, many contradictions and a general lack of rigor.
